Material Remains buys vintage women’s clothing and accessories all year. If you have pieces that fit what we’re looking for, we’d love to see them. Everything is reviewed by photo first — it’s the best use of everyone’s time. If your pieces are a match, we can set up an in-person meeting or a virtual session.

Looking to sell your vintage? Whether you’re in Virginia, DC, or Maryland — or mailing from farther away — start with a few photos.

What we’re looking for

  • Women’s vintage, 1930s through Y2K

  • Silk blouses and silk scarves

  • Quilted, tapestry, and fringe jackets

  • Leather, suede, and fur coats

  • Floral dresses, and 1930s evening pieces

  • Cowboy boots — heritage brands and exotic leathers

  • Vintage pins and brooches

  • Vintage handbags and clutches

  • True designer pieces, with labels and markings intact

Natural fibers — silk, wool, leather, cotton — and pieces that have been stored clean and cared for.

How it works

  1. Send photos. Use the form below to show us your pieces — front, back, the label, and a close-up of anything worn or flawed. If the tag shows a size, mention it in your description — no need to measure anything.

  2. We review. If a piece fits the shop, we’ll reply with an offer, or a time to see it in person. We’re building a highly curated shop, which means not everything is right for us.

  3. The sale. In Virginia, DC, or Maryland? We can meet by appointment. For the right pieces, we’re glad to arrange shipping. We pay at the time of purchase — no consigning, and no waiting for a piece to sell.

A note on prices

We purchase at wholesale, so our offers won’t reflect retail or resale prices — they leave us room to clean, photograph, and present each piece properly in the shop. If you’re hoping for full retail value, selling a piece yourself will usually get you closer to it. We’re the right call when you’d rather make a simple, quick sale to someone who knows what you have.
